Randall Hendricks is a qualified Actuary who worked at Discovery Life in its Valuations Department. Randall is a finance professional whose actuarial background has equipped him with generic financial skills that can be applied to any organisation.

His skills include but are not limited to:

The elements referred to above are further enhanced, specifically with respect to the mining sector, by a five-year stint at a coal mining group. After joining as CFO in 2016, he was responsible for Group Finance, Mineral Processing, Marketing and the evaluation of new mining projects both Greenfields and Going Concerns.

Michael Hendricks was the Provincial Director-General (“DG”) of the Northern Cape Province from 2003 to 2006, when he retired from the Public Service. As DG he gained extensive top management experience in the functioning of Government, including Public Entities. The Northern Cape is a mineral rich province in South Africa, with Iron Ore- and Manganese mining being prominent, and as DG this team member had extensive exposure to the mining sector.

After retiring from the Public Service, Michael joined a coal mining group, as CEO from 2008 to 2020, with operations in Mpumalanga. Through a tender process, the coal mining group successfully acquired a Prospecting Right from Exxaro. As CEO, Michael led the process from the tender submission through to operationalising the project in 2014, with his responsibilities including overseeing mining operations, coal processing and marketing as well as financial viability.

Michelle Hendricks is an accounting graduate who has an auditing background and worked in the Corporate Finance division of the Discovery Group. In 2018 she joined a coal mining group as Finance Manager, with significant skills having been acquired in setting up financial systems, including for operations, logistics and marketing.

With respect to transport, logistics expertise has been gained in rail transport and the port. This required an understanding of the operations of Transnet Freight Rail (“TFR”), Transnet National Ports Authority (“TNPA”) and Richards Bay Coal Terminal (“RBCT”). VMC was also a member of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (“DMRE”) Quattro Scheme, and this team member was centrally involved in registering the entity in this programme. A sound working relationship has been established with Transnet-, RBCT- and Quattro officials.
